Bio/Description

Marjorie "MJ" Joseph is a Senior Research Specialist and the Texas State Lead with the Bridging Divides Initiative. She is a passionate advocate for social justice and equity, bringing 17+ years of expertise in executive leadership, strategic planning, coalition building, and diverse stakeholder engagement. Her professional journey includes serving as the former Executive Director of Houston Coalition Against Hate and as the Founder/CEO of Gibbous Phase, where she championed initiatives to address identity-based hate and violence through organizing and collaborative capacity building. She is adept at conducting timely research and providing critical insights to Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to nurture and encourage informed, action-oriented community response. Marjorie is a Fellow of the American Leadership Forum and recipient of the 2021 United Nations Association Houston Global Citizenship Award. She has received certificates of completion from Goldman Sachs 10KSB and the Rice University School of Continuing Studies for Leadership in Action and holds a BA in Political Science with a minor in African and African American Studies from Pennsylvania State University.
