Bio/Description

Theo Sitther is the Policy Director at the Bridging Divides Initiative, previously serving as the Collaborations Director and de-escalation project lead. As Policy Director, Theo continues to lead the de-escalation project, alongside a deeper focus on BDI’s key advising and next-generation research assistant program.

Theo joined BDI after 19 years of experience working in the policy advocacy space in Washington. He is a Senior Fellow for Legislative Policy at the Alliance for Peacebuilding and is on the board of directors at the Latin American Working Group. Prior to joining BDI, Theo consulted with the Alliance for Peacebuilding, Stanley Center for Peace and Security, and Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL). And before that Theo directed the peacebuilding policy program at FCNL, where he played an instrumental role in the passage and enactment of the Elie Wiesel Genocide and Atrocities Prevention Act.

Theo holds an M.A. in peacebuilding and conflict transformation from Eastern Mennonite University and a B.A. in biblical studies from Eastern University.
